1/48 Scale. The Albatross a large twin-radial engine amphibious flying boat that was utilized by the USAF, USN and USCG, primarily as a search & rescue and combat search & rescue aircraft. It was developed to land in open ocean situations to rescue downed pilots/flight crew members. Its deep-V hull cross-section and substantial length enable it to land in the open sea. The A variant was used primarily by the USAF through many conflicts, including in Korea, where it gained a reputation as a rugged and seaworthy craft. Kit consists of over 380 parts on 18 sprues plus metal landing gear and photo-etched parts. Features positionable flaps, detailed engine/cockpit, and optional metal or plastic undercarriage. Completed kit measures over 15 long with a 20 wingspan.
