The SNJ Texan is a single-engine trainer aircraft that is easily recognizable around the world. Reaching operational speeds of over 200 mph, a ceiling higher than 20,000 feet, and a range of 750 miles, it is a very competent and highly efficient aircraft for test pilots. Although its design is quite basic, the SNJ Texan came equipped with modern digital instrument panels and configured forward and rear control positions that allowed the student and instructor to switch seats as needed. Its cockpit was the glazed canopy type, providing two seats where student and instructor sit in tandem. It saw action in different parts of the world during the majority of the Second World War as a trainer for a number of military branches. It trained thousands of pilots in fighter tactics and general flight, providing the war effort with talented fighter aircraft pilots. Optional armament was also available for the SNJ Texan as it is possible to equip it with two forward-fixed 7.62mm machine guns. Its outstanding thrust-to-weight ratio also allowed the aircraft to perform aerobatic maneuvers.
