Manufacturer Description

The F-105 Thunderchief is a fighter-bomber and attack aircraft used by the US Air Force. At approximately 50,000 pounds, the Thunderchief was the largest single-engine combat aircraft. Similar to the F-100 Super Sabre, the Thunderchief carried missiles and cannons. This aircraft, commonly referred to as Thud, was able to deliver a greater bomb load than some World War II bombers. During the Vietnam War, the F-105 became one of the primary attack aircraft and conducted strike bombing missions. These USAF fighter aircraft were credited with 27.5 kills. However, high loss rates led to the removal of the Thunderchief from combat missions.
