Manufacturer Description

The P-51D Mustang was a single-seat, supercharged piston-engine aircraft developed and manufactured by the North American Aviation Company in the 1940’s. Undoubtedly one of the major fighter-bombers during World War II, the Mustang was used by many ace pilots including the first African American Tuskegee Airmen. Flying at a maximum speed of 437mph, at a range of 1,434, the P-51 proved that it has all the characteristics (maneuverability, speed, and long-range capacity) needed for escort duties. The North American P-51 Mustang was still used during the Korean War and until the early 1980’s even if jet-powered engines were invented. Up to this day, many of the surviving Mustangs remain airworthy while some are restored and stationed in museums.
