  • A multirole combat aircraft, the Grumman F-14 Tomcat was introduced in the U.S. Navy in 1974. It was the first of the teen-fighter series, developed using expertise gained from dogfights with Soviet MiGs during the Vietnam War. Though it remains in service in Iran, it was retired from active U.S. duty in 2006, replaced by the F/A-18E Super Hornet. The 'A' variant was flown by the Navy and remains in service in Iran. This 1/72 scale, Hobby Master, die cast model is a premium replica of an F-14A as it appeared on July 30, 1976 - the first day of the VF-1 'Wolfpack's' deployment to the Western Pacific aboard the USS Enterprise. It features engraved panel lines, an opening canopy, a well-equipped two-seat cockpit (with instrument panel), two removable crew figures, realistic air intake and afterburning engine exhaust nozzles, full weapons complement, position-able swept wings, optional-position landing gear, and a mid-flight display stand. Measures approximately 10.25 in long with a 10.75 in wingspan.
