This detailed 1:400 scale model from Dragon Wings shows the typical paint scheme used by American Airlines in the 60's. This aircraft began flying with American on January 13th, 1960. The Lockheed L-188 Electra was first developed in response to a request by American Airlines for a medium-size short-haul airliner for US domestic routes. It's life was short lived by the arrival of faster turbojet-powered airliners. Dragon Wings features one of the largest lines of commercial and military die-cast airplane models available. The models are produced in stunning detail in a larger 1:400 scale which allows for sharper and greater detail than smaller 1:500 scale model aircraft. The Dragon Wings line is highly collectible as all releases are sold only for a short time before being retired to make room for new aircraft types and airlines.. This is a collector model, not a toy and is not intended for children under 14 years of age.
